The first requirement is illuminance, and the second is the spectrum; neither can be omitted.

The lack of any of these, especially with less interaction from bird companions or owners, may lead to undesirable behaviors such as self-harm, screaming, or increased aggression. Why is this?

Because birds have four types of photoreceptor cells, more than humans, including sensory cells that detect ultraviolet light, birds have made full use of ultraviolet light in their evolution and developed some special abilities.
Confidence: Bird feathers can reflect a more brilliant metallic color under ultraviolet light.
Foraging: Birds of prey can see the ultraviolet reflection in rodent urine.
Pairing, courtship and reproduction: For example, when budgies are in heat, the spots on their cheeks display brilliant colors that can only be seen under ultraviolet light.

Therefore, light is absolutely essential for the psychological and physiological needs of birds. Most wild birds in their native habitats receive at least three hours of full-day sunlight, while waterfowl, shorebirds, and birds of prey receive even more than five hours. Therefore, in addition to the full spectrum, adequate amounts of ultraviolet (UVA) and UVB rays should be included. UVB radiation to the skin converts vitamin D2 into vitamin D3, which allows the body to absorb calcium. UVA, on the other hand, is crucial for birds to develop vibrant plumage, boost their confidence, and ultimately, for mating, courtship, and reproduction.

If the purpose of increasing UVB indoors is to allow the skin to absorb and produce Vitamin D, then there is no need for this. Firstly, Vitamin D is not lacking in a rich and diverse diet, and it may even be excessive for parrots (because most parrots hide in dense forests).

Secondly, it is difficult to find suitable light sources for birds using UVB, while reptile lights have too high a UVB index. Some jungle birds are not suitable for these lights and may even suffer damage to their vision and skin. There have been cases of excessive use of UVB abroad, such as in the Amazon.

Thirdly, excessive UVB exposure can be dangerous.
If you really want to set up a natural light source indoors, you can use UVA. UVA provides birds with a rich color environment, not only in food but also in feathers, where physical colors invisible to humans appear in a variety of colors under UVA light. In this environment, birds not only show greater interest in natural fruits and vegetables but also explore and are curious about their environment and companions, exhibiting their natural instincts (such as preening rather than mating) and will not bite their feathers or self-mutilate.

Please note:
1. You need to bring your own fast charging adapter for your mobile phone, with an output voltage of 5V and a current of 1A or more.
Before using the remote control for the first time, remove the transparent film that isolates the batteries.
2. Do not let the bird bite through the power cord.
3. It will not affect your eyes, so please rest assured!
The light source should shine from above or at an angle to avoid shining it directly into the bird's eyes for extended periods. Ideally, there should be both shaded and lit areas for the bird to choose from.
4. It may take some time to get used to at first. You can start using it at a distance of about 60 centimeters for about 4 hours. Observe how well you adapt and then adjust accordingly.
